#20 Muar, Johor
Last time I was there: We basically make a trip almost every quarter!
The story:
Muar -- or “Muo,” as the locals affectionately call it -- is always worth the two-hour drive. The main draw? Food, of course. From morning sate to soto, lontong, mee bandung, asam pedas, and the local kopi, it’s a culinary marathon that never disappoints. We’ve even done overnight trips, enjoying night strolls at Dataran Tanjung Emas, mingling with cheerful locals. Beyond the food, it’s a great spot to pick up early baju Raya or Islamic books. Muar’s charm is in its people, flavours, and that unmistakable small-town warmth -- truly one of the best!
